Dear Friends,

I haven’t posted for three weeks, and I’d like to catch you up on what has been happening in my life.  I’ve spent the time exploring the meaning of my life.  It was been an exciting , exhilarating, at times tear-filled journey.

As some of you know, my partner Cee started back to school and is following a dream of hers.  She’s a remarkable person who has almost died twice of multiple organ failure while battling chronic Lyme Disease.  I’ve watched her come back after a long coma that left her barely able to move.  I’ve seen her (more…)

I have to tell you about a secret love of mine, balloon twisting.  I love balloons.  I can’t think of any single thing that can bring an immediate smile to the face of a stranger than seeing balloons.  They are instant happiness.  I love balloons.

Cee and I recently attended a Red Hat Society Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. (Cee has more pictures on her blog.)  They had prizes for different types of hats (smallest, largest, most creative, etc.), but my hat took first prize.

Cee reminds me that I forgot to do Share Your World last week, and this week’s is ready.  So without further ado, here are two week’s worth of answers to share with all my friends.

If you haven’t contributed to Share Your World, please do.  It’s a blast.  The questions can be challenging, or just plain fun to answer.  Then take time to read everyone else’s.  You’ll get great views from around the world.  Share Your World.

Cee reminded me that I hadn’t done my Share Your World entry.   It’s been a funny sort of week and I’ve gotten off my routine.  Time to catch up with everyone.  It’s hard to believe that she’s already at week 17 of this writing challenge.  I don’t know how she keeps coming up with so many interesting questions.  So here are my answers:

At what time in your recent past have you felt most passionate and alive?  I think that would have to be when I finished writing my first murder mystery last November.  The story was coming to a great conclusion and the words were pouring out of me.  I typed for hour after hour.  My back started to go into spasms from all the unaccustomed effort but I (more…)

Plots!  Where do they come from?  How do you come up with them?  That’s what I wanted to know before I became a writer.  In fact, the idea of coming up with plots was the single most thing that prevented me from writing.  Words, character development, description, dialogue… all of that I can do.  But how do you come up with a plot?

Now that I’ve done a few of them, it seems simple, but at the beginning it was daunting.  Hallie Ephron’s “Writing and Selling Your Mystery Novel” has some great pointers.  The place to start, though, is to open yourself up to possibility.  Here’s a little exercise for you… I’ll give you a topic and you write as many plot ideas as you can come up with.  But first, I’ll be nice and give you an example. (more…)

Do you have a personal or family story that you really wish you could put down on paper but you just don’t know how to do it?  Do you enjoy genealogy and want to see a history written to go along with the charting you are doing?   Then I have a deal for you!  I will write it for you free of charge.

I once belonged to the Association of Personal Historians (APH) and I’ve decided that my main character in my second mystery series will be a personal historian.  I want to get my mind back into that groove.  This offer is limited to five people, so if you are interested in this limited time free offer, go to my Contact page and drop me a note telling me a little bit about the story and why you’d like it written for you.

Friends, I don’t know where my head has been this past week.  I missed the weekly photo challenge and Cee’s Share Your World, so I’m going to try to catch up with myself.

Share Your World – Week 14

Here are the questions:

Who was your favorite Teacher – what grade and why?
What do you like most about your home?
If you were forced to change the name of your blog what would you change it to?
If a movie was made based on your life, what actor/actress would play you?

And here are my answers: (more…)
