Weekly Photo Challenge: Journey

This week’s WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge is Journey.  it’s hard picking one journey that I enjoyed.  Cee and I love to explore, so we’re always on some kind of journey, it seems. (Cee’s Share Your World challenge is posted for this week, so please go participate in that, too.)  For this photo challenge, I think I’ll use pictures from inside the Salem, Oregon, Mill Museum.

The 1895 Thomas Kay Woolen Mill, one of the best-preserved Victorian-Age factories in the West and designated an American Treasure by the National Park Service, vividly tells the story of industrialization in the West. See how it was to work in what was once a leading textile factory in Oregon, the legacy of which is continued today by Pendleton Woolen Mills.  I hope you enjoy the journey.

Thanks for showing me something absolutely new to me. When I was a kid, my sisters and I would play dress-up, and one of our costumes included pumps and a beautiful Pendleton skirt she couldn’t wear anymore. Beautiful!

  2. Nothing like wool for all kinds of clothing. Very interesting tour of the mill.

Great entry for this week topic Chris, excellent work 🙂

  10. Gorgeous shots, and what a fabulous place! It reminds me of a wonderful park/museum in Stockholm that has a collection of period buildings and industrial spaces (like the mill here) gathered on a beautiful piece of land right outside of downtown, where they operate some of the antique machinery and teach the history of the places as well. Really beautiful photos, Chris.

Insteresting journey, I love these wooden looms and spools, such history. When I see wool I am so tempted to make something but alas I don’t have time for such hobbies anymore.
